What You Don't Know Between Ngwa and Mbaise People: They Are One Blood

What you don't know between Ngwa and Mbaise people will shock you. Many think we are different because one is in Abia and the other is in Imo, but the truth is we are one people by blood.

According to oral history passed down by our elders, Ngwa and Mbaise were one big powerful clan many years ago. A great conflict and migration happened in ancient times that separated us. One group moved towards present-day Imo and settled as Mbaise, the other settled in present-day Abia as Ngwa. We were separated by land, but not by blood.

Why You Cannot Separate Ngwa and Mbaise

Our language is almost the same. An Ngwa man and an Mbaise man understand each other more than any other Igbo dialect. Our names, our market days, Eke, Orie, Afor, Nkwo, our new yam festival, our respect for elders, everything is identical. That is blood speaking.

Ngwa Has 7 Local Governments, Mbaise Has 3

This is what many don't know. Ngwa land in Abia State is made up of 7 LGAs:

1. Aba North

2. Aba South

3. Isiala Ngwa North

4. Isiala Ngwa South

5. Obi Ngwa (Obingwa)

6. Osisioma Ngwa

7. Ugwunagbo

While Mbaise in Imo State has 3 LGAs:

1. Aboh Mbaise

2. Ahiazu Mbaise

3. Ezinihitte Mbaise

When you add Ukwa East and Ukwa West, we become the 9 LGAs of the old Aba Division ,the famous Ukwa-Ngwa bloc.

The Most Educated People In Abia and Imo

It is not by chance. The most educated people in Imo State are Mbaise, while in Abia State they are Ngwa.

Go to Imo State University (IMSU), Abia State University (ABSU), and Michael Okpara University (MOUAU). Most of the Vice Chancellors, professors and lecturers are from Ngwa and Mbaise. We are naturally blessed with academics. We love books. We farm, we trade, but we train our children to go to school first. That is why you see us everywhere as doctors, lawyers, engineers across the world.

Our Women Are Beautiful and Respectful

Ask any man who married from Ngwa or Mbaise. Our women are beautiful, respectful, hardworking and intelligent. They know how to keep a home, respect their husband and train their children well.

Ngwa bu Mbaise, Mbaise bu Ngwa. We are one. Conflict separated our lands but not our spirit.

What do you think? Are you Ngwa or Mbaise? Mention your village in the comment section.
